MEDIA DEPARTMENT

Welcome to the Media Department at House of Bethany! You will learn not only the practical skills of media, but also how to minister to the Lord through the visual arts. You will explore the essential skills of photography, videography, and social media to effectively capture and share what the Lord is doing in a worship context.

In the first semester, the focus will be on the fundamentals of media, teaching students how to use composition, framing, camera movement, and settings to document meaningful moments during services. Our goal is to teach you how to capture authentic, reverent images that convey what the Lord is doing in the room.

In the second semester, our focus is turned to the art of storytelling. This will challenge you to lean into the Holy Spirit to hear His voice and create with Him. The visual arts are a powerful way to display the Gospel, and when done in partnership with the Lord, beautiful things are created.

Featured Projects

This video was created by one of our students as part of their final project. It describes the walk of a believer as they put down the pleasures of the world and choose Jesus. Since eating a piece of fruit led to the fall in the Garden of Eden, an apple is used as a prop to symbolize sin. This video attempts to demonstrate how life can make us feel like we're drowning until Jesus rescues and embraces us, which leads to joy and peace.

Below is a photography project our students completed in their second semester. They were challenged to create portraits telling the story of their life before and after they met Jesus.
